Sydney's accommodation

Sydney has a huge choice of places to stay, it just comes down to what you want, where you want to stay and how much you want to spend. You can stay at some of the fabulous five star hotels or go totally budget and stay in a backpacker hotel.

I recommend staying in the city where you'll be spoilt with harbour views. if you’re only here for a few days, it's really easy to get around the city and to the many attractions. Like most hotels around the world, breakfast is not automatically included. If breakfast at your hotel is not essential, there are so many great cafes in Sydney to go and have breakfast instead.

Hotels in the city

You're in one of the most beautiful cities in the
world so treat yourself and stay at one of Sydney's stunning five-star hotels. I highly recommend:

  • Sydney Hilton with its fabulous restaurants,   bars, exclusive spa centre and so much more.       If you have the budget and / or there’s a special deal on, snap it up. You won’t be disappointed.
  • Hotel Intercontinental. This beautiful Sydney hotel was originally the New South Wales Treasury Building. It has everything a great hotel needs - stunning views, great location, wonderful and friendly staff, and really cool restaurants and cocktail bars.
  • Park Hyatt Sydney ...This is a fantasy hotel! This hotel is tucked in behind the Rocks, but it’s such  a stunner that who cares if you’ve got a few more minutes to walk. If you want a special somewhere to stay in Sydney, go for it.
  • Four Seasons hotel: Smack bang on Circular  Quay and with some of the best views of Sydney Harbour. In it’s hey-day, it was the hotel for visiting presidents and political dignitaries, rock-stars and celebrities.

Apartments in the city

Why not choose a serviced apartment, particularly if you're in Sydney for a few days. Apartments are particularly great for travelling families and you feel like it's home away from home. Some of my favourite apartments to stay in Sydney are:

  • York By Swiss-Belhotel Apartments: I have stayed here many times and I can highly recommend it as an option on where to stay in Sydney. It is right in the city centre and most apartments have great views. These serviced apartments have everything you need including a gym, heated Jacuzzi and heated pool and are well-kitted out so you have everything you need.
  • Looking for cheap and cheerful on where to stay in Sydney, try the Napoleon on Kent three star serviced apartments. These apartments are clean, comfortable, and centrally located.
  • Oaks on Castlereagh is another cheap and cheerful apartment. It has an indoor heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi, which comes in very handy after a long day of slogging it out on the pavements.

Accommodation in the suburbs

Sydney has plenty of great places to stay outside the city including funky beach suburbs such as Manly, Bondi or Cronulla.

It's worth look at what's available because it's often less expensive to stay in the suburbs. If you do choose to stay in the suburbs, make sure your hotel is close to public transport. Some great options include:
