The kids will love Sydney, from the beaches and parks, to interactive activities such as experiencing the convict history of Hyde Park Barracks, the Sydney Aquarium, or visiting one of Australia's oldest theme parks - Luna Park.

  • Taronga Zoo has more than 2,600 animals including wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, lions, tigers, zebras, giraffes, elephants, birds, penguins, seals and sea lions. Go inside some of the animal enclosures, and take the free sky safari cable car for amazing views over Sydney.
  • For something different, book a zoo-snooze where you camp overnight at Taronga Zoo. You'll sleep in safari tents near the lions, snow leopards and meerkats, and get to feed the giraffes, pat a seal, do a night walk, and learn the secrets of Taronga Zoo.

  • Head to Sydney’s beaches for a swim, surf, walk or to just hang out. Why not book a surfing lesson, or hire a boogie board and enjoy waves, or just sit by the waters edge and enjoy the crystal blue water.
  • Visit Luna Park, which is an old style theme park. It’s free entry and you pay for your rides. It may not have as many rides as modern theme parks but it's worth visiting the big smiling face as you enter Luna Park.
  • Bridgeclimb – what better world monument to climb than the Harbour Bridge? This is an experience you and your family will treasure forever. 
  • Take a ferry, harbour cruise, or go sailing on a tall ship. There’s so much fun for your family to have on the harbour. Otherwise, take an adrenalin filled jet boat ride where you'll speed past the many stunning Sydney sites at lightning pace.

  • Take a stroll along Darling Harbour which has cafes, restaurants, boats, shops, Imax theatre, tenpin bowling and much more. Visit Lindt café for a sensational hot chocolate and other mouth-watering chocolate treats.
  • Sydney Aquarium has one of the world's largest collections aquatic life. It has three oceanariums that are home to more than 12,000 aquatic animals.
  • Right beside the Sydney Aquarium is Wild Life Sydney.  You'll come face-to-face with one of Australia's largest collection of native animals – and  this adventure is right in the heart of Sydney.
  • ​Sydney Tower Eye Sydney 4D cinema will take you across Sydney Harbour and its famous coastline, iconic landmarks, and events that make Sydney what it is.
  • Madame Tussauds Sydney has more than 70 world famous wax faces including Aussie stars such as Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and Harold Bishop from the soap opera Neighbours.
 
  • Visit the ground floor of Customs House at ​Circular Quay to see the 3D model of Sydney under the glass floor. Get a whole new view of the city. It’s free and fun!​

Kid friendly museums

  • Discover Sydney’s Hyde Park Barracks - a prison that was built by convicts for convicts! Tour the barracks and discover how the convicts lived, try on some leg irons, lie in a convict hammock, step inside a punishment box and uncover their haunting stories.
  • The Sydney Opera House has a ‘kids at the house’ program that includes plays, theatre and play sessions especially for children. Click here to see what’s on at the House.
  • The Powerhouse Museum has interactive exhibitions including the Wiggles exhibition; experiments that look at some of the world’s great discoveries; Space that looks at how astronauts eat, sleep and go to the bathroom. There’s also a zero gravity space lab for you to experience weightlessness for yourself.
  • Visit the Police and justice Museum and get an insight into ​Sydney’s notorious criminal past, the old jail cells and courthouse.
